Intro emails. Why oh why do you take so long to write?

“I would have written a shorter letter, but I did not have the time.” — French philosopher and mathematician Blaise Pascal

There’s an art form to introducing people. Not only do I want to promote a friendly feel, I want to make sure the summary is clear and to the point. I can’t go too deep in one person’s background versus the other. Also, it needs to be clear why I’m doing the intro in the first place so I’m not just wasting anyone’s time. Finally, it has to be short or else no one is going to read it and respond! Oh the stress!

And nowadays, we need to do most of this electronically. I just hope that everyone can give each other the benefit of the doubt and assume all good intentions if I don’t get it quite right. I’d like to believe we all assume others are good, certainly all my friends and my friends’ friends.

And yet, there’s a lot of negativity in the news. How do we balance that out? I don’t know. So instead I’m writing to just remind us about good intentions because we don’t all have the time.

Impromptu Dancing

Trying to convince myself I’m a writer. Pure joy: impromptu family dance parties.
